Sjors werd geboren in Woudenberg, maar zijn roots liggen in Horst. Daar woont hij nu ook, en het is de plek waar veel van zijn werk en ideeën samenkomen. Horst is voor hem een vertrouwde omgeving, vol kleine verhalen die blijven hangen en soms uitgroeien tot iets groters.
Tekenen doet Sjors al zolang hij zich kan herinneren. Er was geen duidelijk beginpunt; het was er gewoon altijd. Waarschijnlijk begon het ergens bij dino’s, Biker Mice from Mars en Power Rangers. Wat ooit spelenderwijs begon, is nooit opgehouden.
Sinds zijn tienerjaren ligt de focus vooral op muziekgerelateerd artwork. Albumhoezen, posters en bandshirts hebben zijn beeldtaal sterk beïnvloed. Tegelijkertijd spelen kinderboeken een minstens zo grote rol. In zijn tekenstijl zoekt Sjors bewust naar eenvoud. Makers als Dick Bruna en Tove Jansson zijn daarin belangrijke voorbeelden. Hij voelt zich aangetrokken tot werk dat ongeschoold of naïef oogt, of dat nu bedoeld is of niet – juist daarin ziet hij een zekere puurheid.
Zijn stijl laat zich omschrijven als kleurrijk, simplistisch en niet te serieus, met weinig diepte maar veel gevoel. Sjors maakt graag werk dat iets verhalends in zich draagt, alsof het beeld onderdeel is van een groter verhaal. Kleur is onmisbaar in zijn werk; zonder kleur kan hij nauwelijks creëren. Paars is daarbij opvallend genoeg een van zijn minst gebruikte kleuren.
Naast zijn tekenwerk bestaat het dagelijks leven van Sjors uit verschillende rollen. Hij zorgt voor zijn twee kinderen, speelt in een band, tennist af en toe en helpt gemeentes bij het verbeteren van hun dienstverlening.

Sjors was born in Woudenberg, but his roots lie in Horst. That’s where he lives now, and it’s the place where much of his work and ideas come together. Horst is a familiar environment for him, full of small stories that linger and sometimes grow into something bigger.
Sjors has been drawing for as long as he can remember. There was no clear starting point. It was simply always there. It probably began somewhere with dinosaurs, *Biker Mice from Mars*, and *Power Rangers*. What started playfully has never stopped.
Since his teenage years, his focus has primarily been on music-related artwork. Album covers, posters, and band shirts have strongly influenced his visual language. At the same time, children's books play an equally important role. In his drawing style, Sjors consciously seeks simplicity. Artists like Dick Bruna and Tove Jansson are key inspirations in this regard. He is drawn to work that appears untrained or naïve, whether intended or not—precisely in this, he sees a certain purity.
His style can be described as colorful, simplistic, and not too serious, with little depth but plenty of feeling. Sjors enjoys creating work that carries a narrative, as if the image is part of a larger story. Color is indispensable in his work; without it, he can hardly create. Interestingly, purple is one of his least-used colors.
Besides his drawing, Sjors’s daily life consists of various roles. He takes care of his two children, plays in a band, occasionally plays tennis, and helps municipalities improve their services.
